I don't know if this is relevant to the problem at hand but FWIW
the default email client (Outlook Express) in Windows 2000 uses a
completely different format to anything previously used, so that
its near impossible to export messages to any other application,
including Outlook 97 / 98. I haven't tried exporting to Outlook 2000
due to the anti-piracy protective measures used in OZ versions

It indicates the MIME type. From
http://www.isi.edu/in-notes/iana/assignments/media-types/application/vnd.ms-tnef
it looks like "application/vnd.ms-tnef" is the proper MIME type.

It looks that way; from its description it sounds like a wrapper that's
useless on non-Microsoft systems.
