Just to avoid confusion, are you talking about the miniwindows (the ones
with titles for minimized apps), or app icons (the ones that show up for
every app)?

I'll assume you are talking about the app icons. Except modifying the
attributes for every app to not show an app icon, you cannot get rid off
them. Here's what I do to at least make it `look' like the aren't there:

Since I only use the clip for workspace navigation, I leave it collapsed
all the time. Then I tell it to auto-attract icons. Since it's
collapsed, I never see any of the app icons that it has attracted.
