I've uploaded the latest LyX (lyx-1.0.3) to incoming earlier this day
(now in dists/potato/contrib/binary-i386/text/lyx_1.0.3-1.deb). Maybe
this LaTeX-GUI would appeal to you? See "http://www.lyx.org";.
