Re: PCI modem



The problem is not that it's a "winmodem". The winmodem was an ISA device which didn't
represent itself to the system as a serial interface but rather had a more low-level
interface which required your host CPU to do a lot of the work a modem generally does
on its own. The problem is simply that there isn't yet support for PCI modems. I
expect that since modems seem to be going this way in general that sooner or later
someone will get device support finished for them. I'm not sure if anyone's working on
this or not.
