Q: cc1plus

I tried to compile a C++ program and got the following error message:
gcc: install problem, cannot exec 'cc1plus': No such file or directory

I have gcc, g++ and cc installed (at least the which command tells me
that they are), so I don't know what's wrong. What is cc1plus resp. what
is it part from, and where can I get it? It must have something to do
with the C++ compiler, because the program author told me that I would
need the C++ compiler.
