KDE 1.1 Library Problem

I downloaded and installed the KDE 1.1 .debs on my Slink
system. Whenever I try to run applications that use libkfile.so, I get 
the following error:

% kedit &
kedit: error in loading shared libraries
/usr/X11R6/lib/libkfile.so.2: undefined symbol: __pure_virtual

[1]    Exit 127                      kedit

Any idea what's wrong? I tried reinstalling kdelibs2g but it didn't
help.
