Probably the best thing to do is to install the kernel-package
package, and follow the directions there. The basic procedure for
installing a new kernel on your Debian box is:

1. Run your favorite variant on 'make config'.
2. Run make-kpkg.
3. Install the resulting Debian package.
4. Reboot.
