Nope, Linux does not care.  You will eventually want to compile a kernel that
has only what you need though.

Any, just avoid ones that are "winmodems".  The box should state this.

Simply install the hardware -- Linux needs no device drivers.

It will be tight.  Run a small window manager like twm.
