Since I've been having a similar "bus error" with netscape (4.06, 4.07,
4.08, 4.5) I tried the libs supplied via the above URL-- it didn't work.

I tried the unsupported libc6 version of 4.08 as well-- it didn't work.

I also tried to get netscape via the slink distro at ftp.debian.org, but
the 4.07 package there still lacked the binary, contrary to reports that
"slink has a full netscape package".

I've had a very frustrating couple of weeks trying to get netscape
working under slink, without any success. Basically, I get a 'locale'
error message, the License dialog pops up, and a few seconds after I
click on "Accept", I get the inevitable "bus error". Here's the locale
message:

netscape: locale `C' not supported.

        If the $XNLSPATH directory does not contain the proper config files,
        Netscape will crash the first time you try to paste into a text
        field. (This is a bug in the X11R5 libraries against which this
        program was linked.)

        Since neither X11R4 nor X11R6 come with these config files, we have
        included them with the Netscape distribution. The normal place
        for these files is /usr/X386/lib/X11/nls/. If you can't create that
        directory, you should set the $XNLSPATH environment variable to
        point at the place where you installed the files.

Naturally, I've tried setting XNLSPATH to point to /usr/lib/X11/nls with
the usual result-- it didn't work. I'm not sure if I actually have the
config files mentioned above-- there's no manifest (file list) with the
netscape tar.gz packages, and no instructions on where or how to install
any NLS config files. Finally, here's the shared library list:

 ** janus [17] ldd netscape
        libXt.so.6 => /usr/lib/libc5-compat/libXt.so.6 (0x4000c000)
        libSM.so.6 => /usr/lib/libc5-compat/libSM.so.6 (0x4004e000)
        libICE.so.6 => /usr/lib/libc5-compat/libICE.so.6 (0x40057000)
        libXmu.so.6 => /usr/lib/libc5-compat/libXmu.so.6 (0x4006c000)
        libXpm.so.4 => /usr/lib/libc5-compat/libXpm.so.4 (0x4007e000)
        libXext.so.6 => /usr/lib/libc5-compat/libXext.so.6 (0x4008c000)
        libX11.so.6 => /usr/lib/libc5-compat/libX11.so.6 (0x40097000)
        libdl.so.1 => /lib/libdl.so.1 (0x40135000)
        libc.so.5 => /lib/libc.so.5 (0x40138000)
        libg++.so.27 => /usr/lib/libc5-compat/libg++.so.27 (0x401f6000)
        libstdc++.so.27 => /usr/lib/libc5-compat/libstdc++.so.27 (0x4022e000)
        libm.so.5 => /lib/libm.so.5 (0x4025f000)

I'd really appreciate some help solving this problem, and TIA
