I got the mounting thing handled. Thanx y'all.

Now... for my Xwindows prob(s). I finaly figured out how to use the
Virtual Consoles (C-F1 - C-F6) and was able to see error messages.

I selected the stardard 101-key keyboard... and I have a 104-Windows
Enhanced Keyboard. (stderr complains about the keyboard not being quite
right, but it can survive)

Also, I have a Microsoft Intellimouse (well, my computer is from Gateway,
with a mouse labeled 'Microsoft for Gateway 2000', and it has the middle
button/wheel) and startx says it can get the status of the mouse (or
something like that).

Oh... I don't have a Window manager up and running as of yet... I just
type startx, how do I have a virtual desktop?

Thanx for the help
