Passing parameters to a new kernel?

Hi there,

I have a fairly vanilla Hamm 2.02 release with kernel 2.0.34. It lives on
/dev/hdb1, where Winborg lives on /dev/hda1. I don't use LILO in an MBR, I use a
boot floppy.
I download the source for kernel 2.0.36. I make x/menu/config, dep, clean,
zdisk (and modules, modules_install if I'm not making a monolithic kernel; I've
tried both).

The new bootdisk (2.0.36) allows a detection and usage of my >64MB RAM (I do
NOT want to use the lilo line "linux root=/dev/hdb1 mem=128m"; I saw the warning
on the Debian FAQs).

But all of a sudden, the ne card that worked just fine under 2.0.34 refuses to
appear under 2.0.36. I also suspect that PPP disappears for some reason.

When I did the first Debian install and was selecting modules/drivers for the
boot kernel, I had to tell it the io and irq. But I don't know how to tell the
new kernel I make the same thing.

Could someone please tell me, where/how do I tell 2.0.36 that my ne lives on
io=0x240/irq=10, so that I can actually USE it?

	Thanks...
