g++272 should only be used in cases of source that for some reason doesn't
compile with egcs g++; I've seen no indication that sftp falls in that
category. 

The proper C++ setup is: `g++', `libstdc++2.8-dev', `libstdc++2.8' and, if
your code relies on obsolete GNU extensions, `libg++2.8-dev' and
`libg++2.8'.
