AFAIK the only "real" port of Transarc's AFS client to Linux is
maintained by a student group at MIT. It only runs on the "stable"
kernels; there is a version for 2.0.35, for example, but you have no
hope running both Linux-AFS and the development kernels. There's not
a glibc version (yet, claims the Web page, but I have no idea how far
off it will be). You might ask the person at Stanford responsible for
talking to Transarc if you can get a hold of it somehow; I don't think
it's widely used outside of MIT. (And it only seems to be available
as RPMs; bleah! <insert mandatory flame about SIPB's insistence on
using RedHat 4.2 for everything>)
A better solution for a current Debian system is to install Arla
(http://www.stacken.kth.se/project/arla/), which is a free AFS
client. You should install the Debian kerberos4kth packages before
trying to build it. Arla seems to be working reasonably well for me.
Combining it with the automounter just kicks a**... :-)
