We're not really. It just that if the author flat out refuses to consider
your changes, it tends to be discouraging. Especially if the author is
making frequent releases and changing a lot of stuff in their code, so you
have to re-do your changes over and over again for each new version, because
your patches no longer apply cleanly. That gets to be a drag.
