Re: Sendmail/fetchmail problems?



Yeah, this is a problem with the kernel.  It does not allow enough open
files for a server that is busy.

It can be fixed, it involves some manual edits to some header files and a
kernel rebuild. Later kernel versions only partially fix this problem.

I will post an email I got from another list with instructions on how to
fix this but BEWARE ... it is NOT a fix for a newbie.  You should be very
comfortable with a text editor and compiling and installing kernels.

The instructions need to be modified slightly for Debian's init structure.
