I've got an AMD 5x86 running at 120 MHz (because my motherboard didn't
support 133) and I've got a problem with the chip too. On my machine, the
system has freezed sometimes, when switching runlevels or starting X.

The solution was simple! The processor fas (a small one for a 486) was way
to small. I've replaced it with a modern 586/Pentium fan, and now
everything works fine. (And the new fan produces less noise too)

Eventually this helps!
