It will help, he certainly also wants to connect to his isp with linux,
but for now, he wants to make his box a dialin server.

This is easy. Install mgetty. Then read /usr/doc/mgetty/README.debian
Debian has his mgetty preconfigured for dialin.

I am too lazy to cut&paste the lines from it :-)
