Low speed response w/ Logitech Trackball

Hi!

I use a Logitech Trackball (Marble), attached to PS/2 port, and i
cannot get it work fast enough in X, so my thumb gets really tired... Is
there any way to change the responsiveness in X ? I know how to do it w/
gpm, but it is useless in this case, even if i configure gpm to generate a
fifo where the X server reads from. I don't feel like editing the kernel
source, since i do not believe it is a good way to accomplish the
adjustment.

The driver included (for DOS) allows me to change this speed, and it works
fine, but i am trying to erradicate DOS for Debian operation. It's a bit
depressing that i have to boot w/ DOS if i am to be able to use my
peripherals (Trackball, GUS Extreme), and also a security hole at boot
time. I miss LILO :.-)

Other possible option could be attaching the trackball at a COM port, but
it is a bad one for me, because i would need an adaptor.

Please, help me to throw away DOS from my life... :-)

Any comments about PS/2 port?

Thx
