I'll try this sometime today. Maybe after doing that I should tweak the
config file by hand to give it the real Horiz & Vert ranges.

Sorry, my mistake. I ran 'XF86Setup', not 'xf86config'. The graphical X
setup program, not the text-based one.

I might try the text-based config program as well.
