Half of it anyway.  To retrieve your mail, you probably want to use
fetchmail.  See "man fetchmail" for more info than you could probably
want.

For sending mail, you have a variety of options ranging in complexity,
but I don't have time to detail them right now.  If you want to be
able to queue up outgoing mail and then send it all at once, you will
most likely need to install/configure sendmail, qmail, exim, or smail.

One place you could get started is with /usr/doc/HOWTO/Mail-HOWTO.gz.
It's in the doc-linux package.
