How to switch X modes on a laptop?

	When runnig X on a desktop, you can swithc between various modes
	(resolutions) using the + and - keys on the keypad. How can I do this
	on my laptop which has no keypad?

	Thanks.

	BTW it's a Toshiba Tecr 500CDT if it matters.
