I agree.
As a suggestion for including in the less package (maybe in example) I
attach my /usr/bin/lesspipe.sh, which can decompress even if the name
doesn't properly say that, display manpages and other groff macro files,
display sgml files as text (the HOWTOs), and show content of debian
packages.
