Re: I still can't get X to run



 I'm not exactly an X guru, but hopefully this'll help a little bit:

      These aren't a problem. The setup script created some modes that your
monitor can't handle, so X just ignores them.

        Again, not a problem. You didn't install all the fonts, and so X 
whines a little bit and keeps going.

       *Here's* your problem. The SVGA server doesn't believe in your 
card's chipset for some reason. It may not be available at all 
(unlikely), or just not compiled for that on your system, or some other 
thing I'm not knowledgeable enough to guess at.

 What you need to do is look at that part of your config file. Maybe 
'clgd5426' is misspelled. Perhaps you could try just a generic SVGA, 
which would be a little slower but hopefully usable.

 All this is a symptom of the above problem. The X server doesn't get 
started, so the rest of the X system chokes.
