I certainly think it would be good for an experienced developer to rework
the documentation for new package maintainers, but that, of course, would
take time.  I'm not convinced that things are too complicated.

In many cases, I think, the Debianized source package has only added the
Debian files while leaving the original source unchanged.

I don't know how I feel about all of this, but it is clear to me that packages
must be installed exclusively as root.  Some Linux machines are used by many
people, and dpkg -i can be used to upgrade or downgrade packages which can
alter the stability of the system among other things.
