My use of "brain-damage" as a metaphor

Regarding my use of "brain damage" as a metaphor, and how it might
bother people who have to cope with real brain-damage:

I have had cerebral palsy all my life. It doesn't bother me much any
longer but I think I was 18 before I could speak clearly. I still
stumble and have bad handwriting. I guess I'm a member of the offended
group :-) .

I'll steer clear of "brain-damage" as a metaphor.
