I'm not sure I follow you here... I probably could have done this (ie toggle
the boot flag off the Linux partition) from DOS FDISK program as well, but I'm
not sure as I didn't try.
What I can tell: now that I switched to extended partition (ie /dev/hda2
contains my swap /dev/hda5, and my filesystem /dev/hda6), DOS' FDISK only
recognizes the extended partition 2, but the "logical" ones (5 & 6) remain
hidden. So for sure, there is no way I can toggle the boot flag from DOS now...
