I have had similar problems using the dselect script in the custom
mode. I am afraid that there seems little you can do to solve the
problem. My experience has tough me that it is always better not
to install xdm at first, check that the XF86Config is correct for
your particular graphics card-mouse, and then after everything works,
install xdm by default if you like it. Otherwise, you get into precisely
the problem you have right now. I believe there is a combination
of ctrl-delete and something else that will get you out of xwindows
but I don't remember now. What about ctrl-alt-f1 or f2 etc? Can you
access any shell??
