    Thank you very much for the information.  I'll give this a try tonight.
(I'm sure new boot disks will help others too.  When installing Linux I was
asked which CD-ROM modules I wanted inserted and none on the list worked so
I expected that whatever allowed the boot disk to find my CD-ROM would be
automatically added.)

    If it's not too difficult I would like to know how to create a custom
boot disk that can find my CD-ROM and mount it.  From your description it
sounds like I'll be able to mount the CD-ROM from the Debian boot disk but
that a custom disk would still not be able to do this.  I'll play around
with doing this myself if you don't have time to answer this now.

    By the way, thanks for all the Debian work that you and Ian (and the
others I don't see so much of) have put in.
