This isn't clear to me. I assume you mean /etc/group, but it's not clear to
me how you "add the required user" to this file.

I have no serserial command on my machine? What is it? Where do I find it?

The following is a copy of my inttab file and /proc/interrupts. As you can
see there are no interrupts declaired for the modem, and there are no getty
entries for ttySx. ????? I'm still floundering!
