su - postgres Hakkında

Kendi bilgisayarımda (Debian sarge) root olarak su - postgres komutu ile

sokrates:/home/metoikos# su - postgres
postgres@sokrates:~$

şeklinde postgresql ekranına düşebiliyorum.

Debian sunucuya ssh ile bağlanıp aynı komutu verdiğimde

[root@tool root]# su - postgres
-bash-2.05b$

şeklinde ki ekranda kalıyorum. Sunucu makina da eksik olan nedir. Yeni
kullanıcı vs yaratamıyoruz.

[root@tool root]# su - postgres
-bash-2.05b$ createuser hebelehubele
Shall the new user be allowed to create databases? (y/n) y
Shall the new user be allowed to create more new users? (y/n) n
Password:
psql: FATAL:  Password authentication failed for user "postgres"

createuser: creation of user "mmpgsql" failed

şeklinde bir durum oluyor.

Şeklinde postgress kullanıcısının şifresini değiştiriyorum ancak.
Sorun nedir çözmedim.
