Hum... yo ejecuto (espero que siga siendo válido, lo tenía apuntado en
mis notas):
service networking restart && sleep 10 && ifup eth0
Que también sirve cuando estás conectado en remoto (ssh).

Si te molesta el mensaje no uses "restart" sino "stop" y después "start".
