Intenta una cosa, en tu /etc/profiles pon esto:

export CC=/usr/bin/gcc.2.95

Si aún así te falla, ve a tu /usr/bin y verás un enlace gcc que apuntará 
seguramente a gcc-3.3, pues borra ese enlace y crealo a gcc-2.95
