Problemas con fontconfig+gtk2

Saludos,
tengo el siguiente problema con aplicaciones gtk2:

$ gnome-apt

revisé la configuracion de fontconfig y al parecer no tiene problema
alguno, lei la documentacion, hize STFW y el problema me la ganó.
uso debian sid updateado diariamente.
sugerencias?
