O que eu achei estranho é que esse pacote existe, e eu posso instala-lo
com o apt. Veja isso:
#apt-cache show alsaconf
...
Conflicts: alsa-base (<= 0.4.1c-3)

#apt-cache show alsa-base
Package: alsa-base
Version: 0.5.10a-1

Package: alsa-base
Version: 0.4.1i-5
...
Pelo que eu entendi há duas versões do alsa-base na sources.list, então
porque o apt não pega a primeira que não tem conflito com alsaconf?
seja lá o que aconteceu é culpa da ximian ! :)
Agora eu to entendo porque não usar ximian, hoje eu peguei o ximian-tools-setup, o apt não reclamou de nenhuma dependência, instalou na boa mas na hora de executar:
users-admin: error in loading shared libraries: libconfig_archiver.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
users-admin é só um dos executáveis, todos os outros sentem falta da mesma lib, o pior:
debian:/home/eu# dpkg -S libconfig_archiver.so.0
dpkg: *libconfig_archiver.so.0* not found.
debian:/home/eu#
Voltando ao assunto, olha que estranho:
