Mam takie oto zmartwienie...
Przy probie przepisania lilo dostaje komunikat:
Warning: Int 0x13 function 8 and function 0x48 return different
head/sector geometries for BIOS drive 0x81
Czy ktos sie spotkal moze juz z tematem? A moze nawet udalo mu sie dojsc do
tego co to za diabel?
Z doswiadczen ktore przeprowadzilem na roznych sprzetach wynika, ze jest to
zmartwienie nie tyle dysku, co biosu na plycie. Ten sam dysk w innym
serwerze zachowuje sie ok, inny dysk podlaczony do tej klopotliwej plyty
zachowuje sie tak samo problematycznie. Ta plyta to moze niezbyt nowy
produkt (Asus P2B) ale ma upgradowany bios, widzi np spokojnie dyski np.
80GB, to jeszcze slot 1 na ktory mi zostal cpu wiec nie chcial bym sie
pozbywac tego sesrwerka mimo wszystko.
Ostatnio w gescie rozpaczy zapiolem zworki na dysku na 32GB, poinstalowalem
swiezego woodiego i... nadal komunikat o bledzie. Na googlach pisza, ze
mozna by w sumie zignorowac ten komunikat, jednak przykre doswiadczenie
mowi, ze za jakis czas mi sie dyski w tym komputerze rozjezdzaja, pojawiaja
sie bledy zapisu/odczytu, z czasem na tych bledach nawet fsck sie poddaje
i... kaplica.
A jesli jestesmy juz przy googlach wyglada na to, ze tona ludzi ma podobny
problem, a nikt nie potrafi podac jasnej konkretnej przyczyny :(
Jedyny sensowny mail jaki znalazlem mowi:

The first warning(0X13) is that Lilo is checking your BIOS for large disk
support. It should work anyway. You can check if your BIOS is ready for an
upgrade.
The second(empty map) can be that there is a 0-byte file that messes up
Lilo's
mapping, for example a 0-byte /boot/message file.
It could also be that you have an emtpy initrd RAM disk. If you have deleted
what is in initrd, you should run the command 'mk_initrd' to correct this.
Check with the command:
lilo -t -v -v -v -v -v
for more verbose output, and also check in /boot to find the 0-byte file.

przyznam sie szczerze, ze madrze w koncu brzmi ale problemu nie rozwiazuje.
mk_initrd nie ma u mnie w systemie a to lilo ponizej daje tasiemcowy wynik
