Kompilacja jadra Bylo:dzwiek z asus nforce2

Walcze teraz z kompilacja jadra do 2.4.23 i nie idzie mi to najlepiej.
Jak juz skompiluje to sie zawiesza podczas ladowania systemu jak juz
wczesniej pisalem, komunikat:

 "VFS: Cannot open root device "302" or 03:02
 Please append a correct "root=" boot option
 Kernel panic: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on 03:02"


Podczas kompilacji z "gotowca" 2.4.23*.deb
mam komunikat:

Jak na chlopski rozum mam to u siebie wdrozyc?
Bo byc moze przez ten brak initrd nie odpala komp po skompilowaniu jadra
przeze mnie.
Prosze o pomoc.
