Dort ist sogar ein Beispiel für emacs vorhanden. 

Ein Eintrag der Art

Emacs*Font: 10x20

in Deiner .Xresources sollte helfen. (Den Font kannst Du mit xfontsel
auswählen. Das Programm liefert die Zeile welche nach dem Doppelpunkt
kommt, wenn Du keinen so einfachen Font wie 10x20 willst.)
