aus man apt-cache:

          policy is meant to help debug issues relating to the
preferences
          file. With no arguments it will print out the priorities of

Nehmen wir das mal als Bsp:

# apt-cache policy mc
mc:
  Installiert:1:4.6.1-6
  Mögliche Pakete:1:4.6.1-6
  Versions-Tabelle:
 *** 1:4.6.1-6 0
        500 http://debian.uni-essen.de etch/main Packages
        100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

Hier würde es bedeuten, dass es http://debian.uni-essen-de priorisiert
wird, dann meiner lokaler cache?!

Wenn jetzt nur /var/lib da steht würde ich mal behaupten, dass das
Päckle in keinem deiner Repos verfügbar ist?!

Oder etwa nicht? Lass mich gern eines besseren belehren :)
