Und warum nicht einfach "usb"?
In der besagten epson.conf steht

Es sollte also nur in Ausnahmefällen nötig sein, die prod/dev ID
anzugeben? Wenn nicht, könnte man das "known to the backend" leicht
patchen...
Aber jetzt ist immerhin dein Problem klar :)
Ich gebe bei mir nämlich keine IDs an, sondern Sane findet alles selber.
Und zum Netzwerk hab ich nichts zu sagen, da ich kein saned nutze hier.
