Gleich zu Anfang: Ich hab keine Lösung für dein Problem, aber häng mich
mal mit ein, da bei mir ähnliches Auftritt mit totem:

Wenn ich in totem simpsons, Lost, etc schaue sieht es aus als ob kein
antialiasing gemacht werden würde. Spiele ich dasselbe mit mplayer ab,
so sieht alles super aus. *Manchmal* siehts auch mit Totem gut aus, ich
denke es kommt auf den verwendeten Codec an, aber ich habe keine Ahnung
wie ich da mehr rausfinden könnte.
Ich verwende xorg aus Etch, mit dem radeon-Treiber.
Ich vermutete mal Totem und mplayer brauchen nicht die gleichen
Codecs(?)
