Backup von Metadaten

Hallo,

ich möchte neben meinen Userdaten auch Metadaten wie das ext3-Journal 
jeder Partition, MBR aller Festplatten und weiteres wie die Paketliste 
(z.Zt. über dpkg --get-selections "*" > $PACKAGE_FILE) sichern.

Dazu hab ich folgende Fragen:
1. Wie sichere ich die Journale und MBR's (mit dd?  - wie genau?)
2. Welche weiteren "Metadaten" sollte ich sichern?
3. Taugt dpkg --get-selections "*" zur automatischen Installation eines 
neuen Systems mit apt-get? Wie ginge das? Der Output sieht so aus:
