Orinoco-WLAN, ich kriegs nicht gepeilt:-( (was: USB WLAN ade, PCMCIA Tips vor!)

ich habe jetzt eine Orinoco-WLAN-Karte hier, eine Elsa Airlancer
11mbit. Dürfte identisch mit Orinoco Gold sein. dmesg spuckt folgendes
aus:

Jetzt will ich als root kismet starten (source=orinoco,eth1,Hermes)
und bekomme folgende Fehlermeldung:

Wenn ich jetzt per iwconfig versuche, die Karte in den Monitor-mode zu
versetzen:

Ein Modul pcmcia_core wie auf http://www.holtmann.org/linux/wlan/
finde ich nicht, kann aber auch sein, daß das fest im Kernel ist.
Vielleicht kannst Du oder jemand anderer mir ja auf die Sprünge helfen,
mir fehlt momentan noch der Durchblick:
wie kriege ich kismet ans Laufen (und den ganzen kwireless und
kwifi-Kram, denn der macht auch nix:-(), bzw. wie kriege ich mich jetzt
z.B. bei meinem Kumpel angemeldet (dessen Zugangsdaten bekannt sind)?!?
Ich bin mittlerweile vollkommen verwirrt - eigentlich sollte ich jetzt
eine Karte haben, die alles gewünschte kann, sie reagiert aber genauso
merkwürdig wie die d-link, die ich hier hatte:-(
Und wie z.B. erreiche ich jetzt (nachdem o.g. endlich funktioniert),
daß sich mein Notebook bei Werner und Dirk automatisch per WLAN
ins Netz klinkt, und bei mir, wenn ich das Kabel anstecke?
