Hallo miteinander,

Es ist schon einige Zeit her, seitdem ich die Anfrage wegen der S3 Vision964-Grafikkarte an diese Liste gestellt hatte.
Ich bin jetzt wieder dazu gekommen, an diesem Teil weiter zu testen:

Ich habe auf diesem System mit Knoppix 3.8.1 gebootet und man bekommt eine saubere X-Oberfläche zu Gesicht:
Video: 86c964 [Vision 964 VRAM], using XF86_S3(vesa) Server.
Ich habe dann vom Knoppix 3.8.1-System die XF86Config-4-Datei kopiert und dann auf Sarge-System (Kernel 2.6.8) kopiert.
Ich musste noch
BusID       "PCI:0:11:0"
für den PCI-Platz meiner Grafikkarte eintragen, dann startete X-System hoch.

Was mich allerdings wundert, ist warum die X-Darstellung nur sehr grob, d.h., mit sichtbaren Horizontallinien erscheint.

Ich habe dann als Mode-Line nur

Zugelassen, Info vom laufenden Knoppix 3.8.1 von xvidtune.
Ergebnis aber leider zwecklos, X-Oberfläche zeigt immer noch in grober Auflösung, xvidtune dort nicht möglich.

Soviel ich weiss, ist beim Sarge-System ein XFree86 der 4.3.0 im Einsatz.

so dass ich mich frage, wie es Knoppix 3.8.1 hinbekommt, ein astreines X bereitzustellen ?

Kann es sein, dass Knoppix für diese Grafikkarte ein XFree86 der Version 3.3.6 verwendet ?

Hat jemand eine Idee, wie ich es mit der X-Oberfläche auf meinem Sarge-System genau so schön hinbekomme ?
