cd brennen unter kernel 2.6

Nach stundenlangem Suchen und erfolglosen Probieren, ich sollte dringend 
eine Daten-CD mit fotos brennen, frage ich hier. Meine Einstellungen sind:
$ lsmod

in /boot/grub/menu.lst:
hdc=ide-cd

Da scheint etwas faul zu sein, aber was genau?
