ISDN-Verbindung nicht erfolgreich

Nachdem ich mittlerweile dem cardmgr abgewöhnen konnte, mein System
(Kernel 2.4.20, 2.4.21) einzufrieren (durch Verhinderung von memory
probs), sieht für mich alles ganz gut aus. Ich bekomme aber trotzdem
keine Verbindung zu Stande.
Situation:
Ich habe hier ein OmniBook XE3 mit einer AVM Fritz!Card PCMCIA. Wegen
dieser Karte habe ich mir für mein woody Kernel 2.4.20 und 2.4.21
gebacken. Bei beiden Kerneln ist das Verhalten gleich.
Über den cardmgr werden folgende Module geladen (automatisch beim
Einstecken der Karte):

Als DSL-Verwöhnter habe ich mit ISDN keine Erfahrung,
Was bedeutet eigentlich die "1" hinter dialing? Zuerst hatte ich auf fest
verdrahtete LEADINGZERO getippt, aber da man diese 1 bei Google-Treffern
sehr oft findet, wohl eher nicht.
Der Eintrag LEADINGZERO in /etc/isdn/device.ippp0 zeigt übrigens keinen
Effekt (in den logs), deshalb habe ich mit der REMOTEMSN (ebenfalls
erfolglos) probiert.
Angewählt soll der Provider der Firma werden, momentan zeigt die
device.ippp0 auf mein Handy. So könnte ich wohl am besten eine
erfolgreiche Anwahl sehen. Hardwaredefekt kann ich ausschließen.
Kann mir jemand weiterhelfen? Danke schon mal dafür.
