dpkg tout cassé après panne de courant

Au beau milieu d'un #dpkg-reconfigure kdm le courant a sauté .....
Résultat plus moyen de se servir de apt ou de dpkg .....
J'ai essayé #dpkg --configure -a ou apt-get --reinstall install dpkg 
mais je reçois invariablement la réponse

NB: root's PATH should usually contain /usr/local/sbin, /usr/sbin and 
/sbin.

Comment réparer ça ?? Soyez précis svp !!
