Chez moi, cela marche bien, et j'ai en plus dans le fichier /etc/default/fetchmail la ligne :
# Default options. These take precedence over anything configured by CONFFILE
# above, so if you like to have any of them specified in CONFFILE, remove them
# from the line below.
OPTIONS="--daemon 300 --syslog"

vu le commentaire au dessus, cela peut expliquer ton pb !
