Hi, Norbert, do as you prefer.

By the way, when I prepared my two NMU I used a local git repo with
some local commits. May be those commits can be of interest to
preserve the history.

FIne, I got newer versions from
http://mirrors.ctan.org/indexing/xindy/base/, sf seems outdated. I
first made the dpath->quilt migration and then upgraded first to 2.5.0
and then to 2.5.1. This is an extra work, but I wanted to preserve
versions history. Later noticed some extra commits in texlive svn
repo, but did not track them closely.

Newer xindy versions made some changes in build system. I have to find
my old git repo and make it available somewhere, at least to save some
extra work.

No. Just googled a bit and just found a message in the xindy-dev list
commenting that it might require some work, but without reply from
Joachim Schrod. Someone fluent with clisp and sbcl might however find
it easier. I vaguely remember something about xindy needing ffi, but I
think recent sbcl has it.

Nice, will try to look at it once I find some time.
