Package: texlive-bibtex-extra
Version: 2009-10
Severity: normal

Hi!

Both packages texlive-latex-extra and texlive-bibtex-extra contain
versions of the Elsevier bibtex styles, but the ones in
texlive-bibtex-extra seem to be much older. Would it be a good
idea, in order to reduce confusion, to remove the directory

/usr/share/texmf-texlive/bibtex/bst/elsevier-bib/

from texlive-bibtex-extra, since newer Elsevier bibtex styles are
available in the package texlive-latex-extra?

The files in that directory contain the text:

$Id: elsart-num.bst,v 1.3 2005/01/21 11:23:24 spepping Exp $

while the files in

/usr/share/texmf-texlive/bibtex/bst/elsarticle/

contain the text:

%% Copyright 2007, 2008, 2009 Elsevier Ltd

Having both installed creates some confusion, at least for me.

Best regards
Torquil Sørensen

-- Package-specific info:
If you report an error when running one of the TeX-related binaries
(latex, pdftex, metafont,...), or if the bug is related to bad or wrong
output, please include a MINIMAL example input file that produces the
error in your report.

Please run your example with
	(pdf)latex -recorder ...
(or any other program that supports -recorder) and send us the generated
file with the extension .fls, it lists all the files loaded during
the run and can easily explain problems induced by outdated files in
your home directory.

Don't forget to also include minimal examples of other files that are
needed, e.g. bibtex databases. Often it also helps
to include the logfile. Please, never send included pictures!

If your example file isn't short or produces more than one page of
output (except when multiple pages are needed to show the problem),
you can probably minimize it further. Instructions on how to do that
can be found at

http://www.latex-einfuehrung.de/mini-en.html (english)

or

http://www.latex-einfuehrung.de/mini.html (german)

Use elsarticle-harv.bst

Upupstream Elsevier has moved to elsarticle since long, including all
related files.

Upstream TeX Live has removed elsart-*

We ship what TeX Live ships.

PLease use elsarticle-harv.bst instead.

Best wishes
