Actually, I was too lazy (or unable) to really write a takeover. I just
moved it to .obsolete. It could be handled like a conf file move, I
have to check now what are the differences between the two files, and
could make some sed magic .. or rename it simply. I have to check.

Yes and now. I think about it. But the next 2 days I don't have time, I
am out for climbing.
Maybe someone else wants to add code to
trunk/texlive-base/debian/texlive-base.{preinst,postinst,postrm}.pre
